Hoka One One is a footwear manufacturing company that designs and markets generously soled running shoes for distance runners. Over the last few years they have gained notoriety among triathletes and were the shoe sponsor for the 2016 Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Hoka One One approached me to design the new limited edition color way of their award-winning Clayton training/racing shoe and develop corresponding race swag. They requested products that would take the runners back to the course when they looked at their shoes and accessories by incorporating the iconic elements of the race course. These design elements were included on shoes, shirts, tank tops, socks, hats, visors, and branded Kona event logo. The lush island print is reminiscent of the native plants along the Queen K Highway and is carried across on all products . The lava print shoe liner and sock draw on the oppressive heat and harshness of the lava fields along the Ali'i Drive. The shirt illustration highlights the final brutal uphill run past the Energy Lab to the finish line. The Kona logo is a play on the Hoka One One logo but utilizes the Hawaiian islands instead of the Hoka bird. Clothing Design Illustration Branding http://www.hokaoneone.com/kona-collection/
